Balcones Songbird Festival Directions

Unless otherwise indicated, the Nature Tours (NT) will depart and return to the Refuge Headquarters via vans. (exception is the Little Bend Nursery event , please meet there and the Photography Workshop which will meet at Doeskin Ranch.)

The Wine & Star Shine event has no van transportation. Please meet at the winery.

Directions to the Refuge
To reach the refuge headquarters from Lago Vista, go west on FM 1431 for 5 miles past the intersection with Bar-K Road. If you are coming west on FM 1431, the office will be one mile after Cow Creek Road. The office is on the north side of the highway.

Directions to Flying X Ranch
To get to the FLYING X RANCH, take FM 1431 west out of Lago Vista to RR 1174. Turn right on RR 1174 and travel north for about 5.2 miles. The Flying X entrance is on the left, just after you pass the Doeskin Ranch public-access area,You will find the entryway to the Flying X on the left hand side of RR 1174. The entryway is made of stone, with a small sign that says Flying X (but only on one side) and will be prominently marked. The lane from the entryway to the Flying X parking area is nearly a mile long.

Doeskin Ranch Doeskin Ranch
is on RR 1174. If you are coming from the south, Doeskin Ranch is about 1.5 miles north of the intersection of RR 1174 and Cow Creek/County Road 328. Cow Creek Road is a slower and scenic drive, but if there has been recent and significant rainfall, the several creek crossings may be under water. If you are coming from the north, Doeskin Ranch is 2.3 south of the intersection of RR 1174 and RR 1869. Doeskin Ranch is on the east side of the road.

Directions to Flat Creek Winery
The vineyard and winery location is off RM 1431, 6 miles west of Lago Vista. Turn south on Singleton Bend road and travel 2.5 miles to Singleton Bend East. Turn left and go ¾ of a mile to the bottom of the hill. The vineyard will be on your left. Turn up the gravel road 1/8 mile to the gated entrance of Flat Creek Estate.

Directions to Little Bend Nursery
Little Bend Nursery is located off 1431, 6.2 miles west of Lago Vista. Turn south on Singleton Bend Road and go 1.4 miles. The nursery is on the left hand side of the road. Turn into the gated gravel driveway.
